Toronto-based Drummer/Composer

Jackson Haynes is a 23 year old jazz drummer and composer based in the Toronto area. Being a graduate of Humber College’s Bachelors of Music program, he has been making a name for himself through his side work and band leading. He has had the pleasure to play alongside Randy Brecker, Guido Basso, Ingrid Jensen, Brandi Disterheft and Ron Westray while in the Jazz FM Youth Big Band and through Humber College.

 

In July 2024, Jackson released an EP of his original compositions and arrangements untitled “New Light” with James Griffith, Julian Straatsma, Jesse White and Jack Johnston. Jackson brings inspiration within his drumming and compositions from musicians such as Bill Stewart, Billy Drummond, Walter Smith III and Kurt Rosenwinkel amongst others. Jackson is starting to establish his own voice as a musician and composer in the Toronto jazz scene.

Jackson is also experienced with cruise ship contracts, having done 3 contracts for Royal Caribbean ships such as Allure, Oasis and Harmony of the Seas as a sideman and bandleader. With having Wonder of the Seas on the horizon for March - June 2026.

EP "New Light"

New Light is his new album that encapsulates some of his first original body of work that takes on the contemporary jazz genre with some of his favourite Toronto musicians. It can be found on all music streaming platforms.
